Doula Support

What is a Doula?

A Doula provides evidence based information, emotional and physical support to expectant parents and their families during pregnancy, birth and in the postnatal period too. As a doula I do not provide medical care, however I do provide you with the knowledge, support and guidance you need to help you make and informed choice during your baby’s birthing day, and during your parenting journey.

Research has shown that when a Doula is present at birth:

  • You are more likely to have a spontaneous vaginal birth
  • Labour is likely to be shorter
  • Less likely to have an assisted birth
  • Less likely to need pain relief methods such as epidural
  • Increased success in your breast feeding journey
  • Increased satisfaction with your birthing experience
  • Due to the support provided mums are less like to develop Postnatal Depression

So if you are you looking for that extra bit of care, support and nurturing during your pregnancy, birth or early parenting journey. Then one of the following birth or postnatal doula support options will provide you with continuity of support. Having a doula can compliment any birth preparation/antenatal classes you have planned or many find the one to one support provides all the birth preparation you need.

“She’s incredibly warm, approachable, full of useful nuggets of knowledge and is amazingly supportive of women’s choices during pregnancy and postpartum. Her recommendations can always be backed up by research and if you ever want a chat she’s a great listener!” – Amanda

Postnatal Support

Have you had a new baby recently, how are you finding it?
Could you do with a bit more sleep or the chance to recharge the batteries?

Perhaps you would like someone to just listen without giving you unsolicitated advice?
Could you do with some practical baby care tips? or maybe you just need an extra pair of hands around the house as two hands never seem enough?

Whether you have one, two or more children you can still need support and that is exactly what a postnatal doula can provide. I am also good at a making a warm cuppa and giving you the hands to drink it, making lunch/preparing dinner, bringing round cake or soup and calming babies (I am a trained baby massage/yoga teacher and babywearing advisor) and entertaining older children (well I am a baby and toddler class teacher ;-)) then one of the following options below maybe perfect for you.

Postnatal Support Chat

If you just want a friendly chat with a listening ear or perhaps you have some questions you need answered and are not sure where to find the answers or perhaps you want to talk about  infant feeding, sleep or perhaps need support with symptoms of wind, reflux and want to know some calming and soothing techniques or maybe you want to chat about going back to work or how you might parent two children.

Then book a session with me and I can chat with you on the phone or via Zoom and can send you any evidence based information you need to inform your choices.

“The way Tara cares for every mother and baby she supports is so evident and continuous. Not only is she a pillar of support for new parents herself, but she’s built a community of mums and provides a safe space for us to navigate motherhood together.” – Siobhan
